13/03/13 - Sexual Identity


What i have learnt.

Before lesson

Before lesson i had no prior knowledge on sexual identity and the meaning and what it means.

20 Minutes into the lesson

As the lesson went on i learnt much more than i knew before, i have learnt that Sexual identity is which gender you are attracted to; or how you are attracted to that certain gender;

I.e.
  • Sexual
  • Physical
  • Spiritual
  • Intellectual
  • Emotional
There are many different variations of stereotypes of sexual identity;

- Straight men
- Gay men
- Lesbian Women
- Straight women

Straight man -

  • Casual clothes / Suits,
  • Deep voices,
  • calm and cool,
  • Standard jobs,
  • Authority,
  • Ignorant
  • Players
  • Confident
  • Lazy
Sexual identities are displayed differently throughout different cultures and types of media.

Class and Status

Class and status is related to the job of individuals, location of their home, and how they speak.
 
Middle class male - Smart, rich, suited and booted, i.e. stock-brokers, bank managers, head teachers,

Middle class female - Smart, rich, well-looked after, good looking, i.e. business women, headteachers,

Working class female - Dull clothes, Cheap clothes, brown;grey or black clothes, ugly, i.e. receptionists, cleaners, dinner ladies.

Working class male - Dull clothes, Cheap clothes, brown;grey or black clothes, i.e. shop keepers, taxi drivers.
